Not the greatest food :( Initially decided to visit to try the latkes and apparently they have been out of them for 2 weeks. The soup was decent but the egg salad was dry, the turkey was sliced way too thick on the turkey melt. The almond chocolate dessert was stale and dried out. Very disappointed!!
Came here for brunch and got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was really yummy, though on the more expensive end for a sandwich ($16.18 including tax). The meat was pretty flavorful and the cheese was wonderfully melted. The thing came out piping hot!
The only downside was it took a long time to make, like 15-20 min. I was hoping for a bit faster service, but the food was good so it's only a minor knock.
I ordered a Cobb Salad for lunch. I will not order it again but I will return and try something different.
What was good about the salad?
1. Portion size
2. Contents - turkey, bacon, egg, avocado, cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers
3. Freshness
What could have been improved?
1. Cheese cubes could have been more bite size. (My personal preference is smaller bites.)
Overall, the food and the brief experience was great. Next time I'll try bagels for breakfast.
First time at your location today. The Hispanic gentleman (didn't catch his name) greeted me and took time to go over the menu with me very patiently. I was looking for the best deli sandwich in the area on a roll (NY style). This wasn't it BUT my bacon egg and cheese on a bagel was not bad! Cheesecake was also delicious! I was having a pretty rough morning and the selling point here was the service. Blair is really an asset to your staff! Thank you both for being so kind! Especially you Blair! Thanks again!🩷
My daughter suggested we eat lunch here after a busy weekday morning of running errands. It's a small deli and we arrived before the lunch crowd. The employees were fast and friendly, with a good sense of humor to boot! I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, hot coffee, and a cheesecake slice. My daughter ordered an egg and cheese omelet, potato latkes, and a plain bagel with cream cheese. We found seating quickly and our order arrived shortly thereafter. Everything was delicious! I had been craving a really good grilled cheese sandwich, and the white cheddar/Muenster cheese on sourdough did not disappoint. I can't wait to return to try their specialty sandwiches like The House Reuben and The Clevelander. Their bagel sandwiches look delicious as well. Will definitely return!
Long wait. It was nice eating outside. Our sandwhiches were good, but I think I expected more for a Pastrami sandwhich from a Jewish Deli...the ladkas were served w sourcream and applesauce, but they were huge, so it was like eating hashbrowns. My wife's chicken Philly was good. Overall, friendly staff, a long wait, good sandwhiches...but I fon't see wgat the fuss is about.
I've been going to Biderman's since they opened in 2017. They used to have delicious consistently made food with friendly efficient service. Unfortunately, none of that exists here now. It has been on the decline since the pandemic (like many Austin area restaurants) and is at the point that I don't see myself ever going back after today's visit.
When I walked in and approached the register, the young man standing there didn't give any sort of greeting or acknowledge that he was ready to take my order. He just stared at me while eating a bagel sandwich he was holding in his hand. There were 3 other employees behind the counter discussing their favorite alcoholic drinks and one young lady was bragging about how little work she had managed to do the previous Tuesday. I placed my to-go order, gave the cashier my name, and sat down to wait for them to complete it. Despite the dining room not being busy at all, it was taking quite a while for a fairly simple order (two bagel sandwiches and an order of latkes) to come out. Eventually, after 40 minutes and watching two other patrons that had ordered after me receive their meals, I approached the counter and asked for an ETA on my order. The guy asked my name and then went back behind the register and found a bag with my name on it that was all ready to go. Who knows how long the order had been ready for. I suspect it had been ready for a while as I ate my portion in the dining room immediately and the latkes were cold. The picture I attached is how the latkes looked when I opened the box, and there were greasy fingerprints all over the outside of the box holding the latkes. They also gave me the wrong kind of bagel for one of the sandwiches, but I was so fed up by that point that I didn't bring it to their attention in the store. The bagel quality has also declined significantly - the everything bagel hardly had any toppings at all. It was mostly sesame seeds, and there weren't even many of those.
I'm not exactly sure what is going on with the restaurant scene in Austin since the pandemic, but it is getting to the point of being untenable. I find myself eating out less and less, and when I do, returning to only a handful of restaurants that still manage to have good service and consistent food. If you are specifically looking for better bagel sandwiches in the area, head a little north to Rosen's Bagels or south to Nervous Charlies.
Food was good but unremarkable. Soup and sandwich was half a sandwich and a microscopic amount of soup.
Even the fries only had a small handful.
For my wife daughter and I it came to $60 so kinda pricey.
I’ll try again when they get their sea legs under them.
